SCULPTURES

Seven Deadly Sins – Sculpture Series
This ongoing sculptural series explores the concept of the Seven Deadly Sins through form, material, and emotion. Each piece is developed as a physical interpretation of a specific sin, using distortion, texture, and symbolism to express internal states and human behaviour.
Working primarily with clay and mixed media, I use a hands-on, experimental process to shape and manipulate the body, allowing imperfections and surface detail to play an important role in the final outcome. The sculptures move away from traditional representations, instead focusing on mood and psychological presence.
This project marks a shift in my practice towards more conceptual and three-dimensional work, expanding beyond illustration into sculpture and art direction. The series is currently in development, with each piece contributing to a larger narrative exploring identity, emotion, and human nature.

Greed is represented through a distorted figure consuming dollar forms, symbolising excess and the endless desire for more. The eyes are covered with a dollar banknote, suggesting blindness and a loss of awareness caused by material obsession.
The sculpture is hand-built in clay and finished with a layer of wax, which gives the surface a subtle sheen while preserving texture and adding a sense of decay and artificiality. Measuring 55cm and designed to be wall-mounted, the piece creates a strong visual presence, confronting the viewer with the physical impact of greed.
Anger is expressed through a split, screaming face, capturing a moment of emotional intensity and loss of control. The fractured form reflects inner conflict, while the open mouth suggests release and tension. Made of clay and measuring 35cm, the piece focuses on the physical and psychological impact of anger.

Envy is expressed through a covered face, suggesting a quiet and hidden emotion. The eyes are positioned lower and look in different directions, reflecting comparison, distraction, and a constant awareness of others. Made of clay and measuring 60cm, the piece explores envy as a silent but unsettling state.

Pride is expressed through separated elements of the face, each elevated and isolated to suggest self-importance and detachment. The face carries a subtle smile, even as the heart bleeds, referencing Christ and the idea that pride is considered the most serious sin. This contrast reflects how pride can hide vulnerability behind confidence. Made of clay and measuring 60cm overall, with individual elements between 12–18cm, the piece explores pride as both powerful and isolating.

Sloth is expressed through a soft, melting form, suggesting stillness and lack of movement. The shape appears to lose structure over time, reflecting passivity and slow decline. Made from soy wax as a real candle, the piece is designed to change as it burns, symbolising gradual loss of energy and motivation. The transformation of the material becomes part of the work, emphasising the quiet and consuming nature of sloth
